Topic: Extra abilities in Kickstarter package

  • Extra abilities in Kickstarter package

I have received the kickstarter packages and wonders about the abilities that come with it. Can I confirm that the abilities simply replace the stated abilities on the card? Does that mean that we can choose which ability to activate or is restricted to the new ability that replaces it? Also, for the abilities that require a Life Gem, if I do not use a Life Gem, does that mean that ability cannot be activated in the future? In that case, what happens to the ability that it replaces? I'm quite lost on how to use these abilities so any help is appreciated as I'm having a blast starting the book but not knowing how these abilities can be used.
Also, for the extra loot that comes with the bookmark, can I assume we start the game with that item we got?

    Hi Seabreeze

I'm glad you have your books and goodies. And those are perfectly logical questions. I'll do my best to answer.

    1. The bonus loot item on the bookmark is available from the start of the game.

    2. So, the legendary powers (Dagger Fall, Barbed Roots, Blinding Light and Call of the Tides) are available to use when you have unlocked/paid for the appropriate ability. These legendary powers can then be used in a combat instead of the ability you unlocked. They are 'one time' powers - but can be activated again in future combats if you want to pay a life gem.
They do not replace the old ability. So for example, Johan would still have Leaping Strike. You simply have the option, in one combat, of using Blinding Light instead of Leaping Strike, if you want to.

    3. The career powers (Blood Rain, Storm Call, Furious Fists, Reaping Briars) are complete replacements. Therefore, they are best kept for a second playthrough, if you want to 'mix up' the hero's powers and try something new.

I've actually recorded a short video to provide some explanation on this:
