Yeah I let him keep the item. Seems it would have been kinder not to though! Yeah I really like the achievement side. It's going to drive me crazy though if/when I fail one as I want to not cheat the game! I killed it on the very last turn available!

Sorry Antfunk, my mistake on my earlier response. I was going off (hazy) memory rather than rechecking the encounter.
It is played as written.
Blast the bile is used instead of rolling for damage, to simply blast all the sap creatures in play (once their damage is getting too high)
Power pruning is the same as the above, but you are removing armour instead.
There is no spending of magic points. Sorry, my bad! (That is more of a Book Four mechanic 
)

Nice little spoiler there ;)! I REALLY like the idea of using core stats in combat to cast spells and such. Prior to your books, Steve Jackson's sorecery books were my favourite and I loved the spell book part that cost stamina to cast spells from!

Sweet! I just ordered book 3 from Amazon. I have book 1 as well but undecided whether to do that story as the book or the digital infinity version.
